Finale!
Today is it. We will see who wins the European Championship. Ian and I are going down to the Fan Mile to watch. The Fan Mile is screens set up in back of Brandenburger Tor with the whole road shut down and tons of people. Like literally hundreds of thousands. I think it is going to be hard to see, a lot of jostling, and completely exhilarating. Wish Germany luck against Spain, I think we are going to need it.

Homewardbound
That is what we are- We bought tickets today! We will be flying from Dusseldorf to Vancouver on September 24th. A perfect flight of non-stop, 10 hours, and one of the cheapest prices we have seen of only 475! Now that we have an end-date, we can start structuring out trip and dream about seeing all the smiling faces of our friends and family back home.
This is a crazy week: the tickets!, some of our best friends here are going home, and Germany is playing Turkey in the Europameister. It is going to be out of control this Wednesday. Wish us luck!

Fussballpossen: Soccer Antics
For about the last two weeks, the Europameisterschaft (European Championships) has been sweeping through Europe causing ex-pats such as ourselves to watch more soccer than we ever had in our lives. As the EM progresses further, so does the crazy antics of the common German citizen. Tonight, Germany takes on Portugal in the quarterfinals, and the loser goes home! Two out of three cars have German flags waving from their windows, and balconies all across Berlin are covered in black, red, and gold colors of German glory. Naturally even the news is caught up in the hysteria. We just got done witnessing a reporter get his hand licked by a crazed German teenager, while he "tried" to interview a woman in a stadium filled with fans about to watch the big game on a huge television screen. MEIN LEBEN LANG! DIESELBE UNTERHOSEN AN!

Late entry
Sooooooooooo- Ian was supposed to write about these pics I uploaded but SURPRISE- didn't happen. Oh well, he has other virtues right? Right?!
This pic is when we were on our way to a "Bad Taste Party" and saw these young guys get taken down by the police. One of them had a gun!! Not so interesting in USA, but unique in Berlin. Ian took some covert pics of the event.
Bad Taste Party! Our friend Diana got us in for free = we are celebrities. Bad Taste abounds. John's shirt says "Call me" auf Deutsch. Jeff is in an orange bikini. A viking hat is passed around. Awesome.
Last but not least, we had a lot of affection for this crazy thing before the frigid weather set in for July- Bade Schiff! Literally "Pool Ship", this is just like it sounds but more awesome. It is luxurious to sit on the shelf of the pool and look over at the Fehrnsehturm and the Spree. It is official, we are rich and famous. And yes, it is pretty great.
