Gardens in the Rain: Berlin's Botanical Garden

I had a dilemma. My parents were visiting, but Ian worked during the week. What to do that wasn't going to make him crazy jealous, but entertain them. I got it - Berlin's Botanical Gardens!

Unfortunately, there was a hitch. It was raining. A lot. We're from Seattle, but c'mon Berlin. Good sports that they are, they accompanied on my fools errand and we got very, very wet. Trying to keep up our spirits, we tromped though the soggy grounds. I apologized. A lot.

Yeah, those are raindrops

But then we found it - the conservatories. Yes, the acres of forest, Italian & Japanese gardens, & lake are glorious - but the conservatories are where it's at in the rain.

Sounds like the last time I went to Kew Gardens in London, thank goodness for conservatories. I am definitely adding this to my list of places I want to visit :)

As one of the P's in the story - this was a delightful, if soggy, trip. Once we found the conservatories we were soaked, but had plenty of dry-out time, as they're all linked together and you can go from one specific plant region to another without getting wet again - we even got warmed up when visiting the tropics!

Thank god for greenhouses! The pics look fantastic. When I was in Berlin all I got to see was the inside of dive bars.
